Kilimanjaro Challenge 2020
Pooja PadhyeWhen I saw this photo of little Hudea, my heart broke.
I was moved by the fear in her eyes, as she seems to be staring into the barrel of a gun. Upon seeing it she threw her hands in the air and surrendered. It wasn't a gun, of course, but a camera. Photographer Osman Sağırlı's image captures the moment where war meets innocence.
In January 2020 I will climb Mount Kilimanjaro for War Child. I ask for your help, by donating*, in making a lasting impact and helping children, like little Hudea, build a better future - both for themselves and their communities.
Because no child should be part of war. Ever.
"War is the quiet bravery of civilians who will endure far more than I ever will, of those asked to fight and those who are just trying to survive. Mothers, fathers, sons and daughters, traumatized families, bereft and inconsolable."
- Quote by renowned war correspondent Marie Colvin, who died on the frontline in Homs, Syria.
*Please note that all donations made will go directly to War Child. I will be paying for my own (travel) expenses.
